Our Week in the Forest...
You might have seen a lot of rain and cloudy skies in the last few days but this of course did not stop us from having lots of fun in the forest!
We started our week with creating a giant mud slide that we all enjoyed sliding on. This was initiated by one of our children that spontaneously poured water from a nearby puddle on one of the slopes. Then few other children joined in and the project had started. Some brought water in buckets, some carried large pans, whilst others were filling the containers with small cups. There was a sense of team-work and collaboration and few children had shown noticeable leadership skills. The hard work paid off in smiley faces, exclamations of joy and very, very muddy clothes. It was worth it!
Our forest is blessed with many holly bushes that provide materials for endless creations. On one of the mornings one of our older children came up with a wonderful idea of making bee tentacles from holly branches. With great focus and attention the children worked out the knots and very quickly the forest was buzzing with many children pretending to be all kinds of insects.
With a very tall three in the middle of our site we are able to create plenty of room for climbing and testing children’s physical skills. This week we had a climbing ladder that challenged all the children to work their arm and leg muscles and tested their coordination. We were also able to try climbing a very slippery hill using a rope and some logs. This was initiated by two of our younger children and the idea was quickly adopted by everyone.
As this was our last full week in the forest with our little folks we would like to wish them and their parents a very lovely time during the holidays. We hope that you will have wonderful days filled with magic, laughter and joy. We will be looking forward to seeing all the faces back in the New Year. We are ready for some more adventures!
