Chiswick - April Showers and Muddy Delights

As spring truly settles in, the forest has been bursting with life, laughter, and lots of learning. We’ve had a beautiful mix of April showers and sunshine - perfect conditions for puddle jumping, bug hunting, and a sprinkle of Easter magic!

Forest Doctors at Work
The forest transformed into a woodland hospital! Some children took on the role of doctors, checking pulses and listening to lungs with stethoscopes, while others manned the front desk, registering patients with great care. Once diagnoses were complete, the little medics concocted their own natural remedies using mud, water, and a whole lot of imagination.

Creative Explorers
Meanwhile, our tie-dye artists were hard at work experimenting with mixtures and colours—fascinated by how their changes affected the patterns. With patience and focus, they then moved on to painting with flower stencils, carefully dabbing and pressing to create beautiful spring-inspired prints.

April Showers and Muddy Delights
The forest welcomed its first April shower this week - and what a joy it was! Children donned their waterproofs and dove right into the experience, jumping gleefully in puddles, baking mud pancakes, and digging deep into the soaked earth. The rain also invited some curious critters out to play. We spotted wiggly worms and tiny bugs, which led to lots of questions and investigations.

Springtime Craft & Easter Surprises
Some of our Little Forest Folk-ers embarked on a flower treasure hunt, gathering natural treasures from the woodland floor. These were used to decorate Easter eggs in a truly creative and nature-inspired way. We also received an exciting letter from none other than the Easter Bunny himself - written in Morse code! With fantastic teamwork, the children cracked the message and discovered the hiding places of 48 eggs. They managed to find 46, and we all agreed the final two were cheekily claimed by some sneaky squirrels!

Time to Rest
In between all the adventures, there was time for rest and reflection. The hammock became a cocoon, where children wrapped themselves up before emerging as butterflies. Others lay back under the canopy, listening to birdsong and watching the breeze move through the trees - a moment of calm amidst the busy day.

Looking forward to more adventures next week - until then, have a lovely long weekend!
