We have had the most glorious sunshine in the forest this week and we have made sure that we have enjoyed every second of it!
We started our week by having a DeliverooT system set up. To celebrate International Day of Forests we thought about not only the food that the trees give us, but also what that they need to grow those delicious foods for us. We decided to DeliverooT the food to the trees using a pulley system that could go high up into the trees. We also looked at some fantastic tree roots and then looked at how these are like our veins in our bodies which move blood around like trees move nutrients.
We also went on a mushroom hunt to see what the trees had provided. They were gorgeous and we looked them up to find all the different lovely names they have. We talked about mushroom safety and how we don’t pick them or eat them as they may be poisonous.
Later in the week, with the sun out early and the morning frost melted, we set off for adventure. This was a slow steady walk around the arboretum as there was so much to stop and observe along the way. First stop was a big tree with the trunks growing with a big dip in the middle that we all climbed inside. We kept looking up, amazed at how tall it was and then looked down at the gorgeous roots.
What a fantastic week in the forest we have had!
