This week at Little Forest Folk Wimbledon we were very excited to welcome back our sessional children! It was lovely to hear all about everyone’s Easter breaks and the exciting things they did in their time off.
Our Little Forest Folk-ers really focused on tool work and physical skills this week. One of the things they did was some whittling to create mini stick characters. They sat with one of our educators as they explained how we whittle and how we keep safe during the activity. Then they worked to take the bark off and leave a space for a face at the top. Next, they added decorations to make sure each one was individual and shared them with their friends!
Another way we have practiced our physical skills this week has been with balancing. Some of the children had time with the slack line and tested how they could balance using their core strength. They had to hold themselves up whilst walking along the wobbly bottom line to reach the other side. It was a great way to test their abilities and you could see how proud they were at the end.
They have also enjoyed bug hunting, going on the obstacle course and tree climbing this week too! A great start back after the Easter break!
