On a week which felt like winter had started, we continued to welcome some new little faces into the forest! Our new settlers have been amazing in regard to their settling in and are really taking to forest life beautifully!
We often see horses go past on our morning stroll into the forest, and so we decided to set up our own forest stable! We gathered some toy horses from the nursery and used some small sticks and branches to make our very own stable. Children loved using these horses to explore around camp! We were so impressed with how the children took turns with each other to share the toy horses.
This week, we’ve also been pretending to be pirates around camp, and so on Wednesday we decided to stick with the pirate theme as we went on a big adventure walk onto the common. We had a vote on which way to go and decided to go to the spring. We stopped at the well and from a distance an educator told a story about Andrew, a whale who when he laughed squirted water from his blow hole all the way to Wimbledon common and formed a puddle! We tried to tell some pirate jokes to make him laugh and would you know it, some of our howlers made a big “plop” and “splash” in the well! When we continued to the spring and the stream, our little explorers wanted to make their own splashes, so they chose rocks and pinecones to throw into the stream, watching the effects of the water splashing.
We have had a great week and hope you all have too!
