Wimbledon Village - Building, Construction and Assembly!

What an enchanting and constructive week we have had in Wimbledon Village! We were so pleased to welcome back familiar faces on our holiday camps, with many siblings and friends from previous holidays returning to play. Older children (who we have missed dearly since they departed for big school!) have quickly remembered our rules and routines and even set about helping younger children to climb and explore the forest, showing wonderful support, kindness and responsibility.

Lots of our activity this week has been around the theme of building, construction and assembly and there have been many opportunities for Little Forest Folk-ers to use their hands for smaller, focused tasks like carving pumpkins and building train tracks. Equally, there have been plenty of chances to climb and stretch using the entire body, with some complicated spiderwebs and climbing frames available for children to develop their strength and agility. This week, we have been trying out new vocabulary, using words to describe the positions of people, places and things. Creating dens and tunnels as well as making smaller, more intricate constructions with craft materials has helped us to use words like "through", "under", "next to", "above" and "between". These positioning words were put into physical action in the middle of the week when the children on camp dived into a 'pumpkin dip', rummaging through leaves and under logs to find their own mini pumpkins which they then went on to decorate and animate with faces, arms and colourful patterns.

Thank you Little Forest Folk-ers for another inspiring and imaginative week, we wish you a magical weekend and will welcome you back to camp next time for the start of a November to remember!
