It’s been a week full of sunshine, crafts and smiles in the forest!
We have loved the blue sky and warm sunshine returning to the forest and it has meant that our children have been able to enjoy lots of incredible activities throughout the week. We have been on long adventure walks, made clay models and even potted some flowers. It’s been such a busy week!
The children have enjoyed being able to use the paints this week, with lots of different activities being based around Mother’s Day which is coming up on Sunday. We have been asking the children their favourite things about their Mums or special women in their lives. They have then made cards, created clay models and even decorated and planted in their own flower pots to give to their Mum. Some of the children made cards and wrote such wonderful messages inside, saying why they loved their Mums. It’s been a great time for the children to also share stories about the things that their Mums do and why they are so special.
We have also spent some time looking at tie-dying with natural colours this week. Each child was given a piece of white cloth and wrapped some bands around certain pieces. They then placed it into a bowl with turmeric in it and let the colours soak onto the white cloth. Once the cloth was dry and ready they then filled it with cotton to make a sensory cushion. It was such a lovely activity to look at how we can use natural resources to make colours, and how we can use them to decorate in different ways.
Again this week our children have loved going on adventure walks! No matter what the weather is like our children always want to go out and explore the forest, but when it is under bright blue sky and sunshine it just makes it even better. Some children started the week off by building a bridge over a muddy path using some large sticks that they had found. They all collected the sticks that they thought would make the best path, and then placed them down in a line next to each other. Once they were all down of course they needed to be tested! Things like this show how well our children work as a team and how they problem solve so independently. We also had a lovely long walk to the beech tree forest and searched around for the best trees to climb, which wasn’t hard in such an awesome place!
Yet again it’s been a fun and exciting week full of activities. We have spent so much time talking about our families, friends and what we enjoy doing in the forest. The sunshine always brings such a great mood to the forest and we have had such a wonderful week as spring arrived!
