Our Week in the Forest...
Starting to feel like spring!
What a fantastic week we have had, the sun has been shining and the rain has stayed away. It looks as though we are starting to head towards Spring weather!
Role play has continued this week. Playing pirates and police has carried on, but we have now had the introduction of sharks, crocodiles and hungry lions. The little ones have loved being cars and trains, using the wooden planks as seats and setting ticket prices. With the weather warming up water play has been popular especially in the mud kitchen and for our ‘firefighters’.
Mark making has been explored this week. On Monday, we used paint bottles to spray paint on to a large piece of fabric. This wonderful piece of art has come outside with us every day giving everyone a chance to add their mark. Powder paint has been used allowing us to experiment with mixing paint creating the colour and consistency we wanted. Colour has also been explored further in our volcano experiments, where everyone tested different dyes and explosions.
Adventure walks have been super popular this week, giving our Little Forest-folkers a chance to further explore our new outdoor area. Rolling down hills and climbing up trees has been a key feature of these walks. Many children were keen to play games, from hide and seek to stuck in the mud, where everyone can get involved and some have even invented their own games.
The fire has been a hit again this week. Everyone has been involved in cooking, some buttered bread, some cut up vegetables and some mixed all the ingredients. Once cooked adults and children alike were able to try tasty new foods.
We look forward to seeing you next week and hope this great weather keeps up!!
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
