Wimbledon - Ketchup on noses and treats on the fire!

Spring is here!

The sun finally made a very welcomed appearance this week at Wimbledon, bringing with it a lot of happy faces!

We have spent most of our days by the fire, cooking up a variety of treats for each other. We made hot dogs and potato cakes this week, each having been decided by the children and made by them too. They helped to make the fire and found an array of sticks on our adventure walks to bring back. As the fire was warming up, the children all took it in turns to chop the onions which they then put in the pan. They all chose their sausages and sat patiently waiting until they cooked. Once they were ready, everyone could choose their favourite sauce and then it was time to eat! The children all sat with their friends, singing songs and laughing about the ketchup on their noses!

Adventure walks were a key part of our week, with the children being able to explore some of the areas around the Scout Hut. We have found a new favourite spot by the pond on the hill. After exploring it for a while we have found that there is a large group of toads at the pond, and they have laid a lot of toad spawn. We have visited the pond every day and have seen how many new toads we can find.

Drawing and making stories was another fun part of our week. The children took it in turns to have their own stories written into books and drew the pictures to go with them. They shared stories at snack time and their friends could join in and be the different characters. It was fun to share our ideas with everyone and have our friends be involved too.

With the mixed week we have had, we made sure we had music and dancing every day, creating a fun atmosphere. The children could choose songs that they knew or were important to them, meaning we learnt songs from around the world and different cultures.

It has been a busy and full on week, full of exploring, adventures and fun!

Stay safe and let’s see what the next week brings!
