We have revisited our joy for the theatre this week. The children used microphones and sheets of material to make a stage! This inspired our young humans to speak their mind and run wild with imagination. It wasn’t long until superheroes and fairies came into the mix, with some even opting for face paint to support their character development. Our educators supported the children with the plot of their play; which character is going where? How do they get there? When did they arrive at the scene? These questions inspired more ideas from our little thespians and what was even more brilliant was seeing ideas taken from stories they had previously read in the forest. Themes from The Gruffalo, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Tiger Who Came To Tea, as well as a wide variety of different modes of transport were suggested. As we learnt this week, no one wants their boat to sink to the bottom of the ocean!
Another highlight of our week has been tool work. Not only have our Little Forest Folk-ers been superb and practised safety rules whilst sawing and drilling, our holiday campers have been too! It was a huge success as our little explorers tested their strength, mobility and hand eye coordination to saw a wood cookie. They then had the option to drill a hole into the cookie so they could hang it up. This tool work activity supported a nature-themed day where the children explored pinecones and leaves from different species, whilst using books to learn more about each species. Did you know a tree’s canopy shape shows you what kind of life it’s had? We loved exploring our trees and even tested each other to see who could identify the tree the quickest!
We hope you all have a lovely, restful weekend!
