Our Week in the Forest...
It finally snowed this week! Hooray! What a magical experience for us all together outside. It’s not often you get to experience snow other than looking through a window, so it was lovely to watch it fall upon the children as they played together. Some Little Forest Folk-ers were nearly as excited as me (an Australian with little snow experience), and we danced around trying to catch snow flakes on our tongues and eyelashes. Even if that might have been the only snow of the season, it was a wonderful time.
We celebrated pancake day on Tuesday this week with a big fire and of course, delicious pancakes! Spike made a delightful vegan pancake mix and all of the children enjoyed a delicious treat. We added golden syrup or nothing at all because the banana batter was just so yum!!
This week made use of all the spare bricks around the Scout Hut. The children have been so wonderfully creative, constructing such a wide range of creations. Houses, bridges, boats and zoos, to just name a few. On Wednesday, we added our toy animals to the play scene, and a group of children decided to build them homes, separating the carnivores and herbivores - how clever! On Thursday, the puddles everywhere meant we needed bridges to cross them, so our Little Forest Folk-ers spent half of the morning ensuring each puddle was safe to cross over!
A new pirate ship has been built this week with sails added too! “Let’s sail the seven seas!” I heard the children singing from their ship. Off they went to find the treasure and meet more pirates. We love imaginative play!
Thank you for a wonderful week, everyone. See you next week for more fun and exploration.
