Here comes the sun...
Even though it’s been a shorter week, we have managed to cram a lot into only a few days in the forest.
The sun has shone brightly for us all week, which always makes the forest exceptionally fun. With Easter just around the corner our children have loved taking part in the different activities that we have had going on in the forest. Adventure walks have yet again been a big part of our week, with the children wanting to go to well-known places as well as exploring new areas. There has been so much fun to be had this week!
One of the fun Easter activities that the children have taken part in was making Easter crowns. The children chose which colour their crown was going to be and then spoke with the others around them about what to decorate their crowns with. We spoke about what things we thought about when we said the word ‘Easter’ and some of the answers included bunnies, eggs, flowers and sunshine. Once we had decided which things we wanted to make in order to decorate the crowns, each child drew their pictures and cut out the items they made. When the crowns were made it was a lovely sight to see the children running around in the sunshine wearing them.
Another great activity that our children took part in in the forest was making exploding eggs! Using the same ingredients that we use to make volcanoes, our children put them into toy eggshells and carefully watched as they exploded. We combined the Easter theme with science and the children’s reaction was amazing! From doing these activities more often our children have become more confident with how to do them and passing on their understanding to others.
Easter has taken a very strong theme this week and we have even been lucky to see bunnies run across the meadow. Our children were so excited to see the bunny running through and wanted to ask questions about the bunnies and what they eat. We spoke about what bunnies eat, where they live and how they move around. Some of the children even thought it could be the Easter bunny, and that he was coming to see how well the children play together.
Spring has definitely arrived and watching the flowers blossom, along with our children, has been so amazing. The forest is such a happy and fun place to be, no matter what the season! We hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend!
