Imagination has no limits!
The forest has been a hive of activity this week!
All of the children have been building, climbing, running, drawing, the list is endless. Everyone has come into the forest this week full of excitement at what each day will bring, and the stories they will go home and tell.
Even though the rain and clouds have spent a majority of their time above our heads, it hasn’t made a difference to the happy mood in the forest.
Due to the rain we have had tarps and rain shelters up all over our site this week, the children have used these to their imaginations advantage. We have had castles, jails and fortresses being built for everyone to enjoy. The children have learnt how to put tarps up and have helped with the building of these structures. They have shown that a tarp is never just a tarp, it is whatever your mind says it can be!
The damp weather has also meant that the bugs have come out to play. We have had a lot of bug hunts this week where the children have looked under logs and in the long grass to see what creatures call this place home. When the bugs have been located we have then taken to finding them in books and learning more about them. This will give the children more of an understanding to what these bugs do for our forest and why we need to respect their home. It has been amazing to watch them investigate and discover things they have never seen before.
Imaginations are limitless and that is certainly shown in the forest. From dragons and baddies, to sweet shop owners and monster trucks, the children have all created characters for them and their friends this week. Using the things they have around them in the forest, the children have spent the week making new personas for themselves and seeing what games they can bring these into. There is also no limit to which characters can be in what game. We have had dragons being chased by monster police trucks, and cats being looked after by the Gruffalo but it all makes sense in the forest!
