Autumn has definitely arrived in the forest and the children have been finding all the changes in weather very exciting!
From splashing in muddy puddles to throwing piles of leaves into the air, this week we have been taking time to notice all the changes and how they affect the space around us.
There have been lots of games revolving around water and everyone has had a lot of fun transporting it from one puddle to another. Our little explorers have had to problem solve to find the best item to use to move the water and have all done a great job working in teams to get it around the forest.
We have also created our own “bird nests” using the hundreds of fallen leaves around us, pushing them all into one pile and then using stones found in the forest as bird eggs. This has then led to discussions about eggs and which sizes they would be depending on which birds laid them.
We have also enjoyed some wonderful adventure walks this week, exploring some other areas of the forest. We have taken some of our new children on these walks and it has been great to see the excitement from our older children when showing them the routes.
This time of year is always so magical in the forest with new faces, changes in weather and excitement about the space around us. We can’t wait for more autumnal adventures!
