This week at Wimbledon we have been taking lots of time to explore all of the amazing things autumn has to offer! There have been mushroom hunts, bird watching and “pumpkin carving”.
The children always follow our “no picking, no licking” rule and this is especially important when it comes to mushrooms. There are so many amazing varieties in our forest and it’s great for our little adventurers to be able to explore and discover these regularly. We look at the shape, size and colour and try to work out what type of mushroom they are, so we know how to keep safe!
We have also taken extra care to watch the birds flying around this week, and making a special effort to find different foods to feed them. Using sound books, wildlife apps and the educators’ knowledge, our Little Forest Folk-ers have been able to spot so many different types of birds, and we even managed to hand-feed a Robin!
This week has also consisted of pasta threading, carving “pumpkins” out of satsuma skins and autumn painting.
Such a wonderful time of year!
