Wandsworth - The silliest tree in the woods!

It has been another good week at Wandsworth, with some old faces returning for holiday camp, which has been great to see!

Green team have really enjoyed playing in the dinosaur river! The children carved out the river using spades, before we added water to make a downhill “waterfall.”
Green team have also enjoyed role playing tadpoles and frogs, pretending to catch flies to eat for dinner, yummy!

Furthermore, they enjoyed an adventure walk where they spotted a tree with a face! We named him Norman, and the children gave him the nickname “the silliest tree in the woods!” A few of the green team children have been very happy at having their older siblings join us in the forest! Finally, the green team enjoyed making fishing rods out of sticks, before attempting to catch as many fish as possible!

Red team have been doing lots of tool work with Conor! They have made bracelets out of elder, as well as vehicles, watches and necklaces out of bits of fallen deadwood! The children are developing their understanding of safety rules when doing tool work, and they realise why things such as gloves are important when using sharp tools.

Red team have also been doing lots of learning about directional language, learning the difference between left and right, as well as what opposite means. Furthermore, they enjoyed making paper aeroplanes and seeing how far they could fly!

Red team enjoyed an adventure walk to the “sunny hill” where lots of racing and chasing games were undertaken and finally, we all enjoyed listening to the Dr Seuss story “The Lorax.” They had lots of questions about all the whacky characters in the story!

See you all next week!
