Our Week in the Forest...
Imagination knows no limits.
The children’s imagination encircled the forest this week and the activity that filled our forest with laughter and joy, was the one that didn’t require any resources, just the natural set up of the woods. Roleplaying brought to life interconnected stories and scenes depicted from dinosaur movies, or sometimes even scary movies, with monsters running and hunting through the bog, over the magical mountains and around the enchanted trees. It was impossible not to join in, even though it seemed that the educators were always assigned the monster role.
During intermission, children listened to stories, looking for new ideas to introduce in their play and the most popular one this week, was “The snail and the whale”. This story fuelled their imagination even further and soon we had a school of whales running around, behind them leafy branches were shaking as whale tails.
The logs have been assembled together in the creation of a train and one gold leaf would assure you one stop, before the train would break down. Due to continue mechanical issues the train was transformed into a bridge on which children practiced their balanced when crossing safely over it. Crocodiles were waiting under, for the one who dared to fall. The bridge would become a crossing railway shaken by a train of children; and the loop would start again.
This week we have found out how much fun we can have with a rainbow parachute. Drawn by the colours and the swaying movement of the parachute, children came together and found interesting ways to play with it. Lifting it up and quickly running under it, so they don’t get caught, or just hanging around for a laugh and maybe a chat under the shade of the parachute, created great excitement and joy.
Have a great weekend everyone and we look forward to seeing what next week will bring us during holiday camp!
