What a lovely week we are having, Jack Frost has been nipping at our noses, bells are being jingled as songs are sung and children dance around, and Santa has continually got stuck in a chimney!
The children are a buzz of excitement as the squirrels gather straw, twigs and grasses for their dreys, they have even nibbled through and stolen some of our rainbow ribbons!
The approaching festivities, bright colours, and lively songs and stories have captured the imaginations of all our children as giant gingerbread men have been painted, and large and small cardboard boxes have been painted green as our cubist fir tree has been built and we have also enjoyed creating a one dimensional Christmas sweater, decorating it with sticks and stones and natural items laid out in wonderful patterns.
Our advent winter/Christmas story books have still delighted our young minds, “Bunnies on a sleigh” by Philip Ardagh, Peter Spier’s “Christmas”. “Winnie and Wilbur in Winter” by Valerie Thomas and "Squirrel’s Snowman" by Julia Donaldson have been firm favourites, as we read new stories each day.
Our lovely big hand warmers are keeping our hands toasty, the dancing and running games keep our bodies warm and the delicious food we eat fills our tummies and gives us energy and strength to continue our exploration and learning in the forest.
Thank you all for coming and we’ll see you next week!
