Another fun filled and busy week in the forest, the children have been exploring, digging, practising on the swing and creating all kinds of lovely things with the mud. There was lots of arts and crafts including drawing pictures on paper plates and bracelet making. Our story this week was The Three Little Pigs, and all the children had a go at huffing and puffing to blow the house down!
This week also saw the arrival of some new children into the forest, it was great to see new friends being made and lovely to see our children making them feel so welcome.
Our weekly cookery lesson was a real treat this week, the food went down really well and the children all had enormous appetites... must be all that running around in the forest! They had great fun while improving their skills in the kitchen chopping up the dried apple and they really got stuck in with the mixing to make muffins. There was also tasty marinated chicken that the children prepared beautifully.
Reminder to wrap up warm...
Hopefully you've seen our recommended kit list for keeping the little ones warm in the forest. On a similar note, we also wanted to let parents know that due to ongoing issues with our supplier, we have now decided to close our online shop for the present moment. If you need any tips or suggestions on where to purchase items from then just let us know. We will still be providing the waterproofs as before.
Our team...
We wanted to keep you up to date with changes in our team. This week we'd like to give a warm Little Forest Folk welcome to our three newest members who have just joined us.
Welcome to Beatriz! Who has recently completed her outdoor education studies in Devon and previous to that was working as a primary school teacher in Brazil.
Welcome to Natalie! A real outdoors enthusiast with a passion for nature and excellent childcare experience, Natalie had previously been working for a charity run nursery.
Both Beatriz and Natalie will be joining Vicky's team in Wimbledon.
As some of you may already know, as we move closer to the opening of our new Wandsworth site, the wonderful Lil will soon be moving across to Wandsworth to take up her Managers role there, we know she'll do a great job making the new nursery as fantastic as our Wimbledon one.
And we also now have Marvin on board, who joins us as the Little Forest Folk driver, so welcome to Marvin!
We're sad to say that Sally will be leaving us shortly:( She will be sadly missed by all the children, staff and parents. We wish Sally all the very best for the future!
And in other news...
We love to share good news and end on a positive note, so we'd just like to say a huge congratulations to Claire and Jeremy who have just had a little baby boy! And of course, to Thomas who has now been promoted to the very important role of big brother!
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
