Putney Heath - Tipi Travels!

This week has blown us away (quite literally), with the amazing imaginative and realistic adventures we have experienced this week at Putney Heath.

The children started the week using our fantastic forest as their prop for their role plays. This also included using natural resources as their costumes, using ferns as feathers to transform into beautiful birds and butterflies. Role plays were also inspired by some new stories in the forest as we listened to the noises little bear heard in his snowy forest and also some cheeky aliens who love underpants!

The joy of having no permanent location at Putney Heath gives us the opportunity to set up camp were ever we feel safe and on this turbulent Tuesday that was in the beautiful meadow not far from our woodland site. The children enjoyed having a different lunch setting as we cosied up in our big tipi tent to refuel. As the winds blew and flapped the canvas of the tent, the children’s imagination began to dream of flying away amongst the winds to a new destination, some daydreamed of countries such as Africa and Australia, others imagined rainbow land.

Later in the week the children got creative using clay to create different shapes whilst also exploring the texture of the clay on their hands. The children made butterflies, hedgehogs and other wonderful creations, proud of their artwork and eager to show to their favourite people at home.

We finished the week back in our beautiful forest and the children were happy to be back amongst the trees with a den to shelter under as the rain tapped amongst our toes. The forest is always a great place for role play experiences and the children enjoyed creating a better understanding of our world through becoming doctors. The children enjoyed taking one of the educators as their patients, flying them in an ambulance helicopter to the hospital where they were pumped medicine through a large tube (a large stick) and given a nice bed to rest in.

We hope you all have a wonderful bank holiday and we look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday for some more woodland adventures!
