The countdown to Christmas!
We ended another fantastic week with a marvellous adventure walk to the meadow whilst we waited for the tree surgeons to finish working on our camp, cutting down some dead trees and branches. Some of the children had the chance to see them in action on the cherry picker before meeting up with the sessional children. The children were in awe of the terrific tree surgeons.
We began the new week preparing for advent which is quickly approaching. The children decorated their salt dough advent calendar spirals using lots of different coloured paints and made them look fantastic! We cannot wait for the countdown to Christmas. We also introduced a new book called ‘Fergal is Fuming’ which is about a dragon who accidently burns things when he gets angry, but he eventually learns how to cool down with the help from his friends. This sparked a great discussion about what helps our children to calm down when they get angry.
Further into the week the children enjoyed some target practice and worked hard to throw a tennis ball into different sized bowls from different distances. The children were able to score different points and had fun trying to add up all their scores at the end. Other children enjoyed looking after our animals in our small world zoo, protecting them from the fierce dinosaurs that had accidently escaped from their enclosure!
Putney Heath turned into a theme park for the day and the children enjoyed sitting in our big purple buckets whilst our educators pulled them around the forest with the big rope attached. The children laughed and screamed with joy as they were whizzed around the forest. The children also had a go at pulling each other around the forest and used all their strength!
