Putney Heath - Pond Adventures

Perfect weather and pond adventures!

We ended last week with some thoughtful wild cooking where the children had the opportunity to decorate some bird and heart biscuits with some blue and yellow icing. We chose these colours to represent the Ukrainian flag colours and had a moment of thoughtfulness whilst eating our biscuits.

We headed into the new week with some glorious sunshine which lifted everyone's spirits and got us all excited for the adventures this week. The children engaged in some physical challenges this week, including climbing a very tall, very tough rope ladder. The children were amazing at this and showed off their strength immensely.

Further into the week we embarked on a very exciting adventure to the big pond where the children had fun observing the different wildlife and birds around the area. Our highlight of the morning was spotting a very beautiful and colourful mandarin duck. We set up camp closer to the heathland and the children were welcomed by an outstanding den that someone had built. Some of the children took over the role of site manager and coordinated the improvements of the den, whilst others enjoyed cooking up some tasty dishes in the den kitchen.

Our Little Forest Folk-ers showed off their musical talents later this week and created some wonderful kazoos in the creative area. One of our educators brought in their trumpet which sparked a musical interest with the children and their creations were fantastic! After making their kazoos out of toilet roll tubes, the children performed some of their favourite nursery rhymes.

We have had such a fantastic week soaking up the sunshine and we wish you all a restful weekend!
