Terrific Teeth
We ended a fantastic week with some brilliant bravery from the children here at Putney Heath. We had a tarp tunnel set up on our camp and the children bravely crawled through to get to the other side, even though there was talk that there might be big monsters lurking inside. Luckily everyone managed to escape the monsters and made it to the other side of the tunnel safely!
The bravery continued into the new week as our new settlers slowly began to settle into forest life and with some new faces coming to the forest too for the very first time! With new friends comes new activities and this week we have focussed on the importance of oral hygiene. During circle time, children and educators have discussed why it is important to drink water after eating and the importance of brushing our teeth. To help us with this we have brought a new dentist play set into the forest for the children to engage and learn with.
The dentist kit has been a big hit here at Putney Heath and throughout the week the children have enjoyed taking turns to check and brush other children’s’ and educators' teeth using all the tools provided. The tooth brushing didn’t stop there. Further into the week the children enjoyed brushing a huge set of teeth which was made from laminated cardboard. The children used a big toothbrush to brush away the dirt from the teeth and make them all shiny and white. Alongside this, some children perfected their fine motor skills by cutting thin strips of paper to make a big toothy smile out of paper.
Superb small worlds have been set up in the forest this week and the children have enjoyed using the small people, dinosaurs, and other animals to create their own short stories and scenarios. The children discovered a small village under a big tree where there lived lots of little people with dinosaurs as pets! It was wonderful to hear the creative and imaginative stories the children came up with and we cannot wait to hear more!
We have had a terrific week here at Putney Heath, and we have definitely enjoyed the warmer weather. We wish you all a restful weekend, and we cannot wait for more adventures next week!
