Putney Heath - Super Spider Webs

We ended last week with a beautiful, sunny day which led to lots of different and exciting activities. The children once again enjoyed exploring what kinds of treasures the forest keeps. Looking out for buds on the trees, digging into the ground to find chestnuts, beetles and worms and some other creatures along the way. The children engaged in some water play, using the water to create big mud cakes and again the most popular dish in the forest…. Lasagne!!

Heading into the new week we welcomed some more chillier weather again, but this has not stopped the children of Putney Heath from getting stuck into forest life. The children were really interested in the mist in the air and warned all the educators to not get lost and to stay close to everyone. Thanks to the little superheroes at Putney, all the educators managed to find their way through the mist:) Again, Superheroes have been a huge part of our activities this week and we couldn’t be happier. The camp is always safe from monsters, tigers and gruffalo’s so we never have to worry.

Further into the week the chilly weather continued but this made the children more curious to explore the wonders of the forest. On an adventure through the “Jungle” in the morning we found some frosty spider webs which encouraged the children to walk quietly and carefully through the forest to not disturb any of the animals that may be sleeping. We even built a spider web of our own on camp using ropes tied in between trees, and the children loved this, finding new ways to climb, pretending to be spider-man and showing amazing turn taking skills!

Towards the end of the week the educators introduced some face paints into the forest and the children all picked their very own characters from books, films and tv shows they know of. Of course, we had our usual tigers and dinosaurs, but we also had rainbow kittens, batman and spider man. However, disaster struck when Spiderman tangled all the educators in his web, and they couldn’t escape!! Not to worry though, the sneaky pirates of Putney heath who had just been having some food at their pirate restaurant came to the rescue. The Pirates freed the educators, and all was good again!

We have had another exciting, spider webbed filled week here at Putney Heath and we wish you all a happy weekend!
