This week, our theme was construction, and we welcomed back some old friends to our holiday camp who joined in the creative fun. The children eagerly honed their construction skills by building rope ladders and dens around camp. They loved swinging through the trees and creating cosy homes under fallen logs.
Our adventurers also built cars using natural elements, paying attention to detailed features like pedals, seats, engines, and oil tanks. They even established a garage and tool shed base, making pit stops on their imaginary journeys to Italy, South Africa, and South America.
In our small world areas, we set up cars and trucks for the children to construct their own rally courses. They raced around camp, rebuilding tracks every ten minutes, fuelling their creativity and excitement.
Additionally, we explored the art of papier-mâché, where the children used their junk modelling skills to build their own houses. As they crafted, they learned the names of 3D shapes like ‘triangular prisms’, building associations between shapes and their real-life uses. Out Little Forest Folk-ers were thrilled to take their magical home creations back with them.
It was a lovely, sunny, and warm week, filled with lots of relaxing, shady areas, and forest fun. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another week of adventures!
