This week, our Little Forest Folk-ers have been diving beak-first into all things Easter! From learning about the history of Easter to getting crafty inspired by springtime, it’s been a joyful week packed with creativity, curiosity, and just a sprinkle of chocolate anticipation.
We began the week with some classic egg hunts—but the fun didn’t stop there! Inspired by the excitement, the children took the reins and started creating their own hunts around camp, hiding toys and puzzle pieces for their friends to find. It was a beautiful example of imaginative play and teamwork.
Our craft zone was a flurry of activity as the children collected loose parts to design their own Easter egg collages. Ribbons were cut with care, lace was layered, and paper was crinkled and ripped to add texture. Each masterpiece was a proud celebration of their unique style.
Midweek brought an explosion of yellow as the children turned their painted handprints into Easter chicks! Bright yellow feathers, spring flowers, and personal touches made each chick truly one-of-a-kind—and they loved getting messy in the best way possible.
Though tricky weather rolled in later in the week, it didn’t dampen our spirits. The return of rain transformed the cricket pitch back into a bog, much to the delight of our puddle-splashing pros. With careful steps to keep wellies in place, the children embraced the mud and made the most of the moment.
Of course, no Easter week would be complete without some serious chocolate chatter! Around camp, conversations turned to the Easter Bunny, and whether chocolate bunnies or chocolate eggs reign supreme—though we think both deserve a spot in the basket.
Wishing all our families a very Hoppy Easter weekend, filled with lots and lots of chocolate. See you next week, Putney Heath!
