Putney Heath - Curiosity, Imagination, and Discovery!

Our history theme has taken us on an incredible journey through time and across cultures this week. Here’s a look at our adventurous learning and creative explorations:

We started the week with an energetic 90s Day, diving into the iconic pop culture of the decade. The children designed their own stage outfits and rocked out to 90s tunes. At our musical creation station, we transformed pots and pans into percussion instruments, creating a lively forest band. Dance parties kept everyone moving and warm as we embraced the spirit of the 90s!

Next, we travelled back even further for an Egyptian Day. The children explored hieroglyphics, aged paper with coffee, and wrote their own messages in the ancient style. They built Lego pyramids and created puppets using straws and card, learning about traditional forms of Egyptian entertainment. We delved into the fascinating world of Egyptian gods, religion, and counting methods, blending history with maths and mythology in a truly engaging way.

To expand our historical and cultural horizons, we also explored clothing from around the world, spanning different continents and ages. This led to a burst of creativity as the children crafted their own jewellery, including tree cookie medallions. Using palm drills, they carefully made holes in the wooden discs, painted vibrant designs, and strung them into necklaces to proudly wear.

Our fashion journey continued as we explored traditional dresses from various cultures, using colourful fabrics to adorn ourselves while learning about their significance. It was a beautiful way to connect with history and creativity in our outdoor environment.

Thank you all for another week of curiosity, imagination, and discovery!
