Adventures and familiar faces
We began the new week by welcoming some old and new friends into the forest for holiday camp. This created such a beautiful atmosphere in the forest, and we were all excited for the adventures that the week was going to bring.
At the beginning of the week the children had the opportunity to make their own darts using sticks, leaves and string to hold it all together. They then had the chance to score as many points as they could whilst aiming their darts at our homemade cardboard dart board. The children were amazing at this, and some scored up to 100 points!
The middle of the week brought some amazing adventures to the roly poly hill and the meadow and there was no hesitation when it came to sliding and rolling down the muddy slopes and climbing the tall trees. The children used great strength and negotiation skills whilst climbing the trees and flew their spaceships around the meadow from the top of the tree.
The meadow brought some great opportunities and some of the children enjoyed digging deep underground to create homes under the mud and other children enjoyed some quiet time in the creative area writing love letters to the educators and their friends.
Unfortunately, on the meadow we spotted quite a lot of litter and some of the children were asking why it was there. This sparked a conversation about litter picking and in turn provided us an opportunity to add to our eco-school’s accreditation. Our eco leader has organised Putney Heath Nursery to take part in the KEEP BRITAIN TIDY challenge and pledge. We have pledged to collect 2 big bin bags of rubbish on our adventure walks from now until April. If you would like to join in on the pledge, be sure to add #bigbagchallenge to any pictures you upload or share.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and keep safe in the strong winds!
