It’s been a wetter week in the forest! We know what that means.. jumping in muddy puddles! Lots of the adventurers enjoy the wet weather as we see worms wiggling around the forest and we have ‘big ponds’ of water to splash in. Some enjoy a countdown from 10 before pinging into a puddle, whilst others use sticks and leaves to see what can float on the water; ‘My dinosaur is in a boat ⛴️’
It was Pancake Day on Tuesday!! This caused most children to have pancakes on the brain ALL day! We had a ‘messy play’ where we put some flour and milk in the mud kitchen. The adventurers created ‘paste’ ‘soup’ ‘lumps’ ‘dough’ and used a lot of utensils to ‘mix’ ‘whisk’ ‘flatten’ and ‘cut.’ Pancakes were topped with twigs, leaves and a few petals. Soup was stirred and served to some practitioners - Yum!
This led to a fire circle, 🔥 where the adventurers recalled the fire safety rules; ‘Walk around the edge!’ Each sat on a wooden stump and waited patiently for their pancake whilst we watched the sizzling pan and steam float up into the air! We helped the fire by blowing a ‘BIG dragon breath!’; we all took a deep breath in and blew out to feed air to the fire. 🔥 Once our pancakes were ‘cooked and flipped!’ (some topped with banana and honey) we had a munch and sang some songs 🎶
We had our first adventure walk of the year this week too! This adventure included a group of our Little Forest Folk-ers exploring up to Cannon Hill Common with Sarah and Rosie. On the way we were spotting signs such as neighbourhood watch, beware symbols and stop signs. 🛑 We also noticed the house numbers and practiced recalling numbers we know. The children followed our safety rules brilliantly, holding onto the 'walking caterpillar' as we headed up the pavement and when we reached the common, we stopped for a picnic-snack, ran up to the top of the hill, and rolled back down. We can't wait to keep going with our walks and adventure further and further into the forest!
Have a great weekend and we will see you next week!
