What a great, sunny week in the forest, it definitely is starting to feel like summer here at Little Forest Folk Fulham! ☀️
This week we’ve had a particular focus on the learning area “understanding the world”, making sure our little ones have a well-rounded understanding of the living world around them. We have jam-packed this week with an array of sensory experiences, where our younger explorers have observed and explored plenty of resources of varying textures. As for our older cohort, we have ensured we’ve had plenty of discussions, role plays and story times which explore worldly experiences: currency, geography, transport and languages. Children of all ages have participated in many different activities as we have ensured there is plenty of opportunities for our Little Forest Folk-ers to access their age-related goals.
Hola 👋
This week we have incorporated languages from all around the world. 🌍 As we are constantly welcoming in new Little Forest Folk-ers and occasionally a new educator, we are always inspired by the varying ethnicities and backgrounds. We took a trip around the world this week and educators Maria, Claudia and Angelica led an aeroplane experience. In the morning, we discussed varying ways to say hello and goodbye, and explored what we already knew about airports, drawing on many of the children’s lived experiences. It was a great opportunity for our little adventurers to recall known knowledge. We handed a passport to each child, and they were tasked with drawing their picture onto their form. Once complete, they could head straight to check in and have their passports stamped! Only then did they get welcomed onto a big aeroplane (created with wooden crates) and had the trip of a lifetime! ✈️
