Hello everyone!
Where is our heatwave? After all the reports of global warming and extreme heat in the rest of Europe, Fulham has felt like Autumn already. On Wednesday we braved the torrential rain, sheltering at times in our ‘Tiger Tent’ for stories and songs. Although the children in our ever-popular mud kitchen enjoyed the extra water to create their potions and pies.
In drier conditions we have found numerous ways to create enclosures using the pallets and planks. One day we made an art gallery by pinning large pieces of paper to the pallets and the area was a hive of activity as our budding painters set to work on their little masterpieces! On another occasion it became a builder’s yard and our Little Forest Folk-ers used architectural plans, cardboard tools and planks to begin work on our own wooden house. Later the children used clipboards to design their own building plans and imagine their own dream homes!
A popular new resource has been our double-sided coloured pencils, which are nice and thick and have helped to create wonderful pieces of artwork. This week we have used them to decorate ‘tree cookies’, making swirly patterns and using lots of colours. Some of our older holiday campers have enjoyed making special message cards for the educators - Ben was surprised to learn that it was in fact his birthday!
We have also been feeling a bit Italian in the forest with our new summer menu. We are pleased to announce that our new margherita wraps went down a storm at lunchtime! Delizioso!
Have a fantastic weekend - hopefully we will see you all next week for some sunnier days in the forest!
