What a busy week our explorers have had in the forest at Fulham! We have been embracing this year’s beautiful Autumn. The change of colours and textures have been such an amazing supply of natural and fun activities for our Little Forest Folk-ers.
We’ve had many stories and enjoyed acting them out altogether. Through the forest, we went on a real-life bear hunt 🐻 and the children waded through flowing streams, squelched through thick oozy mud, stumbled and tripped through dark forests and even swished through long waving grass! The children have really enjoyed feeling the light rain in their face, and the wind blowing their hair and the leaves in the trees.
The children got into character acting out the actions and telling the story, it was great to see their different expressions as we ventured into new parts of the story. Following on from this we have built our very own puppet show stage and puppets! The children have taken great ownership in creating their puppets and bringing them to life in their very own stories.
We’ve even had our very own mini eruptions in the forest this week. The children sprinkled and poured and watched as the mixture erupted over our very own muddy volcanos 🌋. The children marvelled and became very excited as we watched the different combinations create different sized eruptions, some just bubbling over slightly and some being so large that they flowed and bubbled!
To mark Remembrance Day, we filled our forest with poppies made by our Little Forest Folk-ers. The children used red peppers and crunchy apples to stamp and create our poppy shapes. We had our own minute silence to remember those who have fallen, and the children listened attentively to what the educators were saying when they explained why we were celebrating such an important date.
Our climbing frame continues to be an amazing opportunity for our children to challenge their own abilities and build up their confidence and problem-solving skills. They walk on slippery logs and planks, and they lift themselves up when they fall over and try again and again.
Another fantastic thing our children did this week was collecting leaves in piles and throwing them in the air. It is so satisfying and fun! Seeing and feeling the leaves fall on our heads was such a beautiful thing to do! The children also enjoyed jumping and rolling on the leaves with their new waterproofs, which made such a spectacular festival of colours and laughter!
We hope you had a great week too! Have a wonderful weekend everybody!
