Chiswick - Swinging, Balancing & Bug Hunting!

What a fantastic week we've had in the forest! The children have been busy exploring, creating, and discovering new wonders in nature. From balancing on tricky logs to uncovering tiny bug friends, their curiosity and sense of adventure have been truly inspiring. We've also had magical storytelling moments, hands-on number games, and even a treasure hunt!

Swinging, Balancing & Bug Hunting!

This week, our little adventurers had an amazing time testing their balance on tricky logs and swinging back and forth on the balancing rope. But the fun didn’t stop there! After perfecting their balancing skills, they discovered a whole world of bugs hiding under the very same logs. With careful hands and curious minds, they observed their tiny forest friends up close.

Storytelling Magic in the Camp

Under the shelter of the trees, our storytelling session was in full swing! Using an illustrated story map, character props, and story dice, we let our imaginations run wild. The children created and wrote their very own stories, weaving magical tales filled with adventure and wonder. Who knows? We may have some future authors in our midst!

Numbers in Nature

Maths took on a wild twist as we practiced our numbers using natural treasures! Sticks, leaves, pine cones, and stones became our counting tools, and we placed just the right amount into a grid made of sticks. Learning numbers has never been so hands-on and fun!

Obstacle Course & Treasure Hunt

Climbing and jumping over logs made for an exciting obstacle course, testing agility and coordination. But then – an exciting twist! The obstacle course turned into a digging ground, as the children searched for hidden treasure buried beneath the forest floor. Their determination and teamwork were truly inspiring!

Sniff, Match & Remember!

Our scent memory game put everyone's noses to the test! The children matched different scents and even discovered the first letter of each one. Despite a few sniffly noses, they did a fantastic job identifying the different smells.

Bug Hunting Adventure

Armed with magnifying glasses and little pots, our explorers went on a bug hunt, searching for worms, slugs, and millipedes. Along the way, we learned an important lesson about kindness to our mini-beast friends. We carefully placed our wiggly discoveries into pots with soil to keep them comfortable, had a close look, and then gently returned them home. Every bug plays a big role in the forest, and we made sure to treat them with the care they deserve.

What an exciting and adventurous week we’ve had! We can’t wait to see where our next forest adventures take us!
