Chiswick - Signs of Spring & Sound and Rhythm

This week, we’ve been soaking up the crisp winter sunshine in our beautiful forest, making the most of the fresh air and blue skies. With the changing seasons on our minds, we set off on plenty of exploration walks, keeping our eyes peeled for the first signs of spring. We were thrilled to discover clusters of delicate snowdrops and vibrant purple and yellow crocuses peeking through the woodland floor—a wonderful reminder that warmer days are just around the corner!

Following our Lunar New Year celebrations, we continued our journey into Chinese writing. The children had the opportunity to explore Chinese characters, using paint and brushes to practise their mark-making. It was a fantastic way to develop fine motor skills while also appreciating the beauty of this ancient form of writing.

Our curiosity led us into the world of sound and rhythm this week, as we created our very own musical mud kitchen! By hanging up different pots and pans, we transformed our space into a marvellous percussion instrument, experimenting with beats, tones, and rhythms.

As we look ahead, we’re excited to see what new discoveries await us in the forest. Until then, we wish you all a wonderful weekend filled with adventure and play.
