As the festive season unfolds, our Little Forest Folk-ers have been busy embracing the magic of winter and sharing in wonderful traditions. Here’s what we’ve been up to:
A Magical Day Making Reindeer Food 🦌
The children had an enchanting experience creating reindeer food! Together, we peeled and grated fresh carrots, scooping oats to mix them into a special treat. The joy on their faces as they packed the mixture into mesh bags and tied them with festive green and red ribbons was truly magical. We hung these thoughtful gifts on trees for Santa’s reindeer. The children also showed their kindness by leaving a special box of food just for the baby reindeer!
Creative Wreath Crafting Adventure
Our forest explorers embarked on an exciting adventure to gather nature’s treasures. With leaves, twigs, and other delightful finds, they collaborated to craft a stunning seasonal wreath. This creative activity was a beautiful way for the children to connect with nature while celebrating the winter season.
Santa’s Sleigh Ride Fun
Dressed as Santa, the children took turns riding the sleigh around the camp, filling the air with laughter and festive cheer. It was a delightful activity that sparked imagination and added a playful touch to our day.
Rudolf’s Jingle Bell Game
We ended the day with a lively game of "Rudolf’s Jingle Bell." One child took on the role of Rudolf, closing their eyes while the others passed a bell around and hid it in someone’s hands. The excitement built as Rudolf woke up and guessed who had the bell. This game was not only fun but also encouraged listening, turn-taking, and teamwork.
Handy Rope Games 🪢
Our little adventurers had a fantastic time with classic rope games like tug of war, where they worked together to test their strength and teamwork. The children also enjoyed limbo - giggling as they bent lower and lower to pass under the rope. Skipping was another favourite, as they jumped with enthusiasm and showed off their impressive coordination.
Present Matching Game and Magical Christmas Blanket
The children also played a fun and challenging present matching game, using different-shaped presents, including circles, triangles, and rectangles. The excitement grew when we brought out our magical Christmas blanket, which had the power to make a present disappear! The children had to remember which presents were there, before guessing which one was missing. It was tricky, but our clever explorers did a fantastic job and amazed us with their memory skills.
We look forward to more festive fun and seasonal learning in the last week of term!
