Our Week in the Forest...
Warm greetings from our forest!
This week has been a balance of very muddy and physical play blended with creative arts and crafts.
At the start of the week we have moved to another outdoor spot to let our old one regenerate and be ready in the spring. The new spot gave as an opportunity to introduce different stimulating activities for children and allow plenty of physical play. From hammock and swings to challenging obstacle course children have been busy testing their abilities and learning how to take risks.
The new site also gave us a chance to create a giant mud slide which was enjoyed by children and educators alike. This would mostly show on the waterproofs children have been wearing, some of them covered from tip-to-toe in the mud!
When not rolling in the mud, we have been focusing on bringing some festivity into our indoor site. We found an old branch in the forest that we thought was just perfect for our very own version of a Christmas tree. Children have painted some of its branches and decorated it with our own bobbles and tinsel. Using some recycled materials and glitter we have created beautiful ornaments that we then hanged on the tree. Many children loved showing us their own creation and it brought them sense of pride and joy.
Our wonderful educator Jaye led a helicopter story where children created some magical tales about creatures and themes that we have talked about in the forest. We have been amazed by children’s imagination and how their minds wonder off into a different world.
We hope that you are excited as much as we are for Christmas and looking forward to some holidays. Stay warm!
