This week, we immersed ourselves in creativity as the children made beautiful gifts for their devoted mums! Some little artists crafted butterfly cards, carefully drawing around their hands to create delicate wings. With great determination, they cut them out and decorated them with their own unique pictures and ornaments, making each card a truly heartfelt keepsake.
Others had a brilliant idea of making clay bowls as a surprise gift! They started by rolling a ball of clay before shaping it into a bowl with a little help. The most exciting part? Decorating their creations with lentils and rice to add a special finishing touch!
Learning About Butterflies
We have been exploring the fascinating world of butterflies this week! The children learned about where butterflies like to live and what they love to eat. We even went on adventure walks to see if we could spot any fluttering around! To bring a little bit of butterfly magic into our space, the children decorated the windowsill plant pot, making it a colourful and welcoming place for nature to enjoy.
Cooking Up Fun in the Mud Kitchen
Over in the mud kitchen, our little chefs were busy whipping up all sorts of culinary delights. Some children made ‘pancakes’ using magnolia petals, while others shaped clay into fish fingers and sausages. The educators were treated to these imaginative meals, served with an enthusiastic “Here comes the aeroplane!”—a true dining experience!
Exploring Nature Through Art
Taking inspiration from the beautiful flowers surrounding us, the children experimented with making floral imprints using toilet paper rolls and paint. They loved capturing the colours and textures of nature in their own creative way.
Mini-Beast Hunting Adventures
With magnifying glasses and small pots in hand, we set off on an exciting mini-beast hunt! The children closely examined leaves and flowers, eagerly searching for tiny creatures hiding within. There were so many fascinating discoveries, and it was wonderful to see their curiosity and excitement as they observed the little wonders of nature up close.
It was a week filled with creativity, adventure, and plenty of muddy hands—just the way we love it in the forest! We can’t wait to see where our next adventure takes us.
