Chiswick - I have a dream

“I have a dream” - Martin Luther King Jr

Chiswick’s gardens were full of sunlight and frost this week, coating Hogarth House in glorious rays. The suns magic on our site illuminates the buildings and structures, bathing them in its glow. To make the most of the sun we squeezed in as many adventures walks as possible and even found a new camp to add to our rotation.

The ducks were plodding along on the frozen lake, the grass was crispy as we walked together and yet the meadow still managed to have a mud pit to slide in. Our den site has made for excellent climbing conditions for our adventurers and the children climbed to new heights, making nests in the treetops.

This Monday marked the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. We discussed with our Little Forest Folk-ers his most famous speech, “I have a dream” where Martin Luther King Jr speaks out against injustice and inspired many others to demand change.

With the children we discussed what makes us, as individuals, unique. The children mentioned height, hair colour, skin colour and the different languages we speak. To show that even though we all look different and have our own individual characteristics we used eggs. The shell on the eggs represented how we are all different shapes, sizes and colours but on the inside, we are all the same.

We carried on our theme of equality this week and created activities that encouraged kind and inclusive thinking. Our adventurers teamed together to make ‘our kind world’. We told one another what we do at home and in the forest to be kind.

We have kicked off our ‘Wild Cooking Fridays’ with bean burritos! The children were marvellous at peeling carrots, spiralling cucumbers with sharpeners and rolling their wraps. Our adventurers went home with a very yummy, healthy snack.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Joke of the week:
What did one egg say to the other?
