Halloween 🎃👻
Our Halloween week was packed with spooky fun and creative adventures as our Little Forest Folk-ers got into the spirit of the season!
Ghost Hunt 👻
We kicked off the week with a ghost hunt after the gardeners alerted us to 10 mischievous ghosts haunting the forest! Our brave Ghostbusters team formed quickly, equipped with a trusty hose to “hoover” up the ghosts. We trapped each one in our ghost suitcase and even crafted some of our own spooky spectres - stunning paper ghosts with eyes that hung from the trees, which gave our forest a true haunted feel!
Spooky Mud Kitchen Creations 🕷️
Things got messy in the mud kitchen as the children created spiders of all sizes, using mud balls for bodies and sticks for legs! They also whipped up a bubbling witch’s potion, collecting special forest ingredients and dreaming up magical effects their potions could have.
Halloween Games and Dress-Up Fun 🧙♀️🐉
Our Halloween games were a hit! The Little Forest Folk-ers took turns to Pin the Tail on the Halloween Cat, bravely attempting to pin the tail while blindfolded. The fun didn’t stop there as dragons, witches, and other characters roamed the forest throughout the week, adding a lively touch of dress-up magic.
Giant Spider Web Challenge 🕸️
The children loved creating a huge spider web in the forest and had a blast manoeuvring their way through it, carefully avoiding the sticky threads so they wouldn’t get “caught” in the web!
Diwali: The Festival of Light 🪔
We celebrated Diwali by learning about the story of Rama and Sita and the origins of this beautiful festival of light. Our Little Forest Folk-ers were captivated by the tale of good triumphing over evil. They also created stunning Rangoli patterns with orange and yellow lentils, forming symmetrical designs that brought a festive glow to the forest. They even crafted salt dough Diyas, decorating them in vibrant colours to light up our space.
Adventure Walks 🍂🦆
Our adventure walks this week had a Halloween twist! We identified sweet chestnut, sycamore, and oak leaves and counted trees along the way. The children marvelled at the brilliant colours of the autumn leaves—orange, yellow, and brown—crunching as they rolled around in them. Birdwatching was also on the agenda, and we spotted Canadian geese and a few graceful grey herons.
Thank you for your support and for letting us share in these magical moments. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Halloween!
