This week, we explored the sense of touch as our focus. From feeling different textures, to engaging in hands-on forest activities, the children discovered new ways to describe and experience the world around them. It’s been an incredible journey of exploration, creativity, and teamwork!
Football Fun
Our little footballers were full of energy this week! After last week’s excitement, we kept the football fun going by setting up a big goal for them to practice kicking and aiming. The children worked together, passing the ball and celebrating each other’s achievements. Their teamwork and coordination were truly impressive! 🌟⚽
Forest Floor Cooking
The forest floor turned into a treasure hunt as the children searched for pinecones and chestnut shells. These natural finds became the perfect ingredients for creative cooking sessions in the mud kitchen. Their imaginative recipes and teamwork to create "meals" was a joy to watch. 🌰🌲
Learning to Share
Sharing was a key focus this week as the children practiced taking turns during activities. Whether it was waiting for a turn on the swing, passing the football, or sharing books during quiet moments, our friends showed great improvement. During circle times, we talked about how sharing helps everyone have more fun, and it’s been wonderful to see them put these lessons into action. ❤️
Exploring Textures
Our sense of touch took centre stage as the children explored a variety of textures. They passed around different materials and objects, using words like rough, soft, bumpy, hard, and smooth to describe how they felt. This activity helped expand their vocabulary while sparking curiosity and discussions about the world around them. 🐇
Throwing Challenge
The children practiced their throwing skills with a fun and colourful activity. Two yellow hoops were suspended with a vibrant sheet behind them. The challenge was to throw soft balls through the hoops and see where they landed. This was a great way to develop coordination and problem-solving skills, while having a blast. 🌈
Mud Kitchen Creations and Forest Adventures
Afternoons were packed with hands-on fun and exploration. The children searched under logs for wriggly worms, mixed up imaginative concoctions in the mud kitchen, and read stories about snowy weather and bears. Inspired by these tales, they even wrote their own creative stories, showcasing their growing storytelling skills. 🪵❄️🐻
Gruffalo’s House Adventure
One of the week’s most exciting moments was our visit to the Gruffalo’s house! The children loved exploring his home, and luckily, he was out shopping, giving them the perfect chance to let their imaginations run wild. It was a magical way to bring one of their favourite stories to life.
This week, we focused on the sense of touch and how it helps us explore and describe the world around us. Through teamwork, sharing, creativity, and physical activities, the children built new skills, expanded their vocabulary, and had so much fun along the way - all while enjoying the wonders of the forest. Thank you for an incredible week, and we can’t wait to see what next week brings!
