We've had an amazing week filled with fun, learning, and creativity. Here's a peek into all the wonderful activities our Little Forest Folk-ers have been up to.
Ocean Activities Continue
We continued our ocean-themed activities by focusing on the importance of keeping our oceans clean. Our Little Forest Folk-ers took part in a pretend ocean cleanup, collecting rubbish to save our sea creatures. This hands-on activity helped them understand why it’s crucial not to throw rubbish into the ocean. They were enthusiastic and showed great care for the environment, reinforcing their commitment to being Earth heroes.
Hot Dog Stand Fun
A spark of creativity led our little explorers to set up an imaginative hot dog stand! Using pinecones as hot dogs and large leaves as the buns, they created their own tasty treats. With pretend mustard and ketchup on hand, they made a colourful hot dog stand sign to attract customers. It was a wonderful exercise in role play, teamwork, and communication, as they served up their deliciously creative hot dogs to friends and educators.
Expressive Faces
We explored the world of emotions by creating faces with different expressions. Our little adventurers learned about what makes us feel happy, sad, angry, worried, frustrated, and scared. They used various materials to craft these expressions and even demonstrated these emotions with their own faces. This activity helped them better understand and express their feelings, fostering emotional intelligence and empathy.
Learning About Healthy Eating
Healthy eating took centre stage as we learned about balanced diets. The children cut out pictures of different foods and placed them on our healthy eating pyramid, which included protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, fibre, and more. Through this activity, they discovered the importance of a balanced diet and why we shouldn’t eat chocolate every day! It was enlightening to see their curiosity and eagerness to learn about nutritious food choices.
Swing Fun All Week!
Our swings have been a source of endless joy and exercise this week. Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been using their core strength more and therefore needing less help swinging, it’s wonderful to see them building up their independence! They've been incredibly creative, leaning all the way back to look at the trees above them and twisting round and round to spin to their hearts' content. This play not only strengthens their bodies but also enhances their spatial awareness and coordination.
Father's Day Surprise Gifts
In celebration of Father’s Day, some of our Little Forest Folk-ers made special creations including some “Dad Rocks” gifts, for their loved ones at home, using salt dough. They mixed flour, salt, and oil together, then flattened the dough and decorated it with stones and lentils. The children loved getting their hands messy while crafting these heartfelt gifts, and the results were beautiful. We’re sure the recipients will cherish these unique and thoughtful presents!
Thank you to all our families for your continued support and for fostering a love of nature and learning in your little ones. Until next time, let's keep exploring, creating, and caring for our beautiful world!
