We have had a splendid Christmas Party week in the forest this week where we have been getting into the festive spirit. We have been busy making lots of different Christmas cards and decorations filled with beautiful bright coloured paints, tissue paper and oceans of glitter! The children loved sticking glitter to all their creations and getting very messy in our special Christmas craft tent where we listened to Christmas music and looked at all the twinkling Christmas lights.
The children been wonderful chefs and all the children tried their hand at cooking Christmas cakes in the forest! We talked about all the different ingredients and where they come from. The children all had a turn at mixing and counting and measuring spoons and cups of ingredients. The educators then would take the mixture back to Hogarth where we would cook them ready for tasting! We all got to try some of our Christmas cakes for snack each day and even took a little slice home to share!
We’ve had Father Christmas send a message to us each day in our special video, reading us a story and letting us know that his "elves" will be helping to deliver presents to the forest. The children have decided that the squirrels in the forest must work for Father Christmas as they watch over our camp each day! We have all enjoyed singing our favourite festive songs accompanied by musical instruments carolling around the camp. This week’s firm favourite song has been Jingle Bells!
Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been climbing high this week up our wobbly rope ladder to see across the camp and spy the squirrels and birds in the trees. We’ve spotted several robins perching on the branches up high and on the ground, we’ve used the binoculars to spot them all! The children have also been climbing onto our favourite tree stump, posing on top of it and then jumping off. Some of our older children have even been brave enough to jump off without holding an educator’s hand!
