Chocolate Tales, Flower Decorations and Exploring the Universe

After a very sunny Easter bank holiday, we welcomed back our adventurers and our holiday campers. We shared stories of Easter egg hunts, family gatherings and of course chocolate treats!

With the weather doing wild things this week, we have had the opportunity to participate in many different activities.

The puddles formed a reservoir in the middle of our camp where our adventurers began fishing for sharks, crocodiles and…educators! We made contraptions using sticks and strings that acted as choppers, campfires and even litter pickers.

Back at our indoor site, we took part in a shape and colour activity. We drew big colourful chalk shapes on the floor of the playground and after calling out a random mix of colour and shape, the children had to run and find them. It gave us a good run around and our educators even got stuck in too!

Our children have also been exceptionally crafty this week, creating amazing things in the sunshine and sheltering under tarpaulins. We sculpted tulips using cotton buds and straws, decorating them with drops of paint to make lovely petal textures.

The Easter felting activities were such a hit that we brought them back this week, only this time we were making solar systems! Looking at our Universe, we noted that there were eight planets in our solar system, all orbiting around the sun. Our adventurers and holiday campers chose a planet to create and looked at the colours and textures on its surface before recreating it in felt.

Joke of the week: how do you throw a party for an astronaut?

You have to plan-et!!
