WILD COOKING FRIDAYS
Introducing...Wild Cooking Fridays
Fridays are our designated days to explore all things food related. On a Friday morning we have specialist cookery and food exploration sessions for little ones to enjoy exploring the joys of food, cooking, and learn some skills to help them develop into budding chefs! Our sessions will involve not only cookery skills but will also use simple, fun sensory activities to teach children about how their five senses work and generate flavour experiences through Flavour School. Flavour School uses experiential learning to build familiarity and positive associations with vegetables and fruit, and equip children with basic knowledge and behavioural tools to enjoy exploring food and flavour on their own beyond the programme.
Sample activities include:
Knife skills – how to safely hold and use knives to perform basic skills like chopping vegetables
Collaborative tasting sessions – building vocabulary to better understand and express tasting experiences, and enjoy togetherness and shared learning around food
Cooking sessions – creating a wide variety of delicious meals and snacks to share with our friends! From salads to baked goods and everything in between!
