This week in Wimbledon, we introduced our new friend Winnie the bear to our Little Forest Folk-ers and we took time to consider how he might feel about different situations within the forest. As we put him in different situations, we took photos to make a social story! This has a been a brilliant way to explore empathy as our little explorers have thought about how he might be feeling and how we might be able to turn these feelings into something positive!
Following on from our focus on feelings, towards the end of the week we made mouth props! The children cut cardboard into a smiley outline before drawing different faces. They first asked the adults to draw the faces requested before they gained the confidence to draw themselves. They attached lollipop sticks to them to allow them to place them in the floor and use them as props to ask their peers how they were feeling!
We have been greeted by lots of different creatures this week too, due to the weather changes! Caterpillars have been the main visitors and we have been focusing on how we can be gentle with them when they land on our sleeves to safely put them on the floor.
We hope you all have a lovely long weekend, and look forward to seeing everyone back in the forest on Tuesday!
