Wimbledon - Ready to Start the New Year!

A jam-packed week back at Wimbledon, the children all came in excited and ready for the start of the new year!

We are now enjoying 2 days a week at our indoor space for a short period, and this has meant that we have had some lovely, different activities for all the children to explore. There has been a lot more tool work readily available, some amazing slack lines and lots of fun ice play for everyone!

We feel very grateful to have our Scout Hut and the opportunity to spend 2 days a week here, whilst we help protect our forest space during the winter months and allow the Fishpond Wood area some time to rest and recover. We are so lucky that we have a fantastic outside space here, so the children don’t miss out on their forest experiences. The wooded area provides a fantastic space for mud play, slack line climbing and running space. We have had a particularly great time this week climbing along the slack line, which is great practice for our little ones who may not be as confident on the bigger trees in the forest just yet. It’s a time to focus on their balance and coordination whilst having a great time along the way!

We have also been building a new obstacle course for everyone by sawing up some old pallets into smaller pieces. Our Little Forest Folk-ers have worked with the educators to saw planks of wood to climb up and down. They made sure to listen to our safety rules and follow instructions to create something that they could all enjoy!

The cold weather has also brought lots of ice play. We have experimented with cracking the ice and then looking at the different shapes and seeing if we can look through it like a window. Our little explorers have also warmed up in the cooler temperatures with lots of kite flying and chasing it as it soared through the air.

It has been a fabulous start to the year, and we can’t wait to see what else the year brings!
