Wimbledon - 'Ice Skating' in Our Own Winter Wonderland!

In Wimbledon, we have had an icy week!

We started the week with two days at the Scout Hut, but this did not change how much fun we had!

We explored Morley Park where we found the pond was frozen. The morning group enjoyed observing this and talking about the different animals that may live here, before warming up by doing lots of running up and down the hill. The afternoon group collected large sticks to crack the ice.

At the Scout Hut, we had a zones of regulation day where we set up different zones around camp. We had a ‘happy’ zone where the children could dance, an ‘angry’ zone where the children could stamp and kick balls and a ‘sad’ zone where the children could take a quiet and calm moment to read books and reflect.

We then returned to the forest where we were amazed with a winter wonderland! We found an ice rink on the meadow which was a frozen puddle. The children enjoyed ‘ice skating’ up and down before using a tuff tray as a sledge. We’ve also enjoyed lots of adventure walks to help keep us warm and the children have been so excited and happy to see the dogs running and jumping around with their owners. Whilst observing this we are sure to remember our forest rules if a dog approaches us - we wrap our arms around us to give ourselves a big hug, whilst turning our heads away from the dog.

What a wonderful week! We hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to more adventures next week!
