Our Week in the Forest...
Another week of different weathers, another week of different adventures!
The sun shone for us at the scout hut in the beginning of the week, creating the perfect day for chasing shadows and drawing around them with chalks. There was the big question of who has the biggest shadow, and which colour chalk is best for each shadow.
We also spent the morning on Tuesday cooking and creating on the fire. The children worked with Spike to create the mixture for flapjacks to cook on the fire. We took it in turns to add the different ingredients into the bowl, looking at the measurements needed and taking it in turns to mix. Whilst we waited for the the flapjacks to cook, everyone had the chance to toast their own marshmallows. The children cut their marshmallows in half themselves and placed them onto wooden skewers. They enjoyed the responsibility of toasting their own treat and reaping the rewards after.
When we came back in to our forest we were greeted with sunshine and daffodils. The children enjoyed looking at the new flowers that had grown while we hadn’t been in the forest, and studying the petal shapes and bright colours.
The rain also came in handy with the giant puddles being used as paint. The children took it in turns to create mud paint pictures, showing off their artistic sides. We used the buckets and trees as our canvases and made different patterns and pictures.
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend and enjoys the outdoors as much as we do! For our sessional families we wish you all a great half-term!
