Wimbledon - A Muddy Week in Wimbledon!

This week has been a little different to normal but nonetheless we have had so much fun!

We started the week at the Scout Hut due to the high winds - this gave us the chance to explore Morley Park and discover lots of different paths and objects that we haven't noticed before. In the park, the children noticed a sign in the flowers so headed to investigate and we noticed that it told us who planted and takes care of them. On route back to the path, the children noticed a signpost and we explored what was written and learnt about the history of the park. We found out that it was first a hospital, then a doctor’s surgery, then a neurological hospital in WW2 before permission was asked to turn it into houses. This was denied and it was turned into the conservation park that it is today! At the frog pond the children, alongside the practitioners, noticed that there was frog spawn in the pond. They used the notice board at the edge of the pond path to identify which part of the life cycle the frogs spawn was in and then tried to count how many there were… over one hundred was estimated!

Towards the middle of the week, we returned to our lovely forest where we enjoyed the space and the nature! We had breakfast on the meadow which the children loved! An earlier drop off at the car park, due to the bus being fixed, meant the children had an amazing dance party on the walk into the forest before arriving and having breakfast to fuel up for the day! We had a percussion music studio on site one day and we had lots of fun experimenting with different sounds while tapping different objects. We were having so much fun we even started to sing along as we were playing. The children were sure to fuel at snack time to finish the day with a leisurely walk back to the scout hut! We had an adventurous walk back to the car park, stopping to look at the spring flowers on the way. The daffodils are showing their bright yellow heads and even some crocuses have popped up. Those of us who continued onto the scout hut, had a chance to look at different things that we see in the city and talked about what the different signs on the road meant. We saw lots of dogs who were going for their afternoon walks as well as identifying a school that we know some of our old forest friends attend and discussed that some of our current forest friends will go there very soon!

A different but lovely week and we are excited to see our bus back next week and have even more fun in our amazing forest!
