Our Week in the Forest...
What a glorious week we have had at Twickenhman! It’s been our first week of dry weather in ages with glorious blue skies, crisp fresh air, and crinkly falling leaves that have found our children lying on the forest floor looking at the sky and stark bare trees and suddenly spotting nests, which are now visible.
At the beginning of the week we made small swings for little birds and fairies to play upon, and this led onto wrapping our favourite sticks with coloured wool creating wands, planes, dolls and so on. Our children have started rhyming their names more this week, partially due to our Willoughby Wallaby Woo song. Many of the children have found funny rhymes to match to their names, causing great hilarity amongst their friends. and the mosaic now represents a collection of treasures that were discovered by curious minds.
Our Little Forest Folk-ers are also starting to improve their gross motor skills and throwing is the new passion at Twickenham! So, to help our children we have set up a throwing area where they can take turns to aim the gloriously spherical Plane tree seeds into small tyres.
We have also been cooking up a storm this week! Our culinary activities included flap jack making, which many of the children were thrilled to measure and stir and taste, and then eat after cooking. Plus, we have also had sensual fun making small holes in oranges and pushing cloves into the fruit, and creating the wonderfully scented festive pomander.
We hope you too have had a lovely week and we hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
